37 minutes after launch, the first sale.

Early 2025 I decided I would start creating some video.
At the end of August, I decided to start filming and create a video course. Easier said than done 😅

After recording, I wanted to add subtitles and I quickly realized I didn’t know how do to that.

Most tools online require monthly subscriptions, and I didn’t want another one, I didn’t even know the frequency of the need.

So, I used imovie and added them manually, and I asked for recommendations.

A few hours later, someone reached out to me.

He told me he had built a small Mac app for himself to add subtitles automatically.
I tried it, it worked well, so I gave him some feedback to improve.

We started chatting. I told him I thought he could turn it into a real product.

And that’s how I ended up being a mentor to guide him through the distribution process.

We called it Subclipsubclip.app

A Mac app to automatically add captions to your videos, offline, fast, and with a lifetime deal. Pay once, use forever.

Samik launched it on September 26th at 4PM CET.

37 minutes later… first sale! That’s the fastest sales I have known in all SaaS I contributed to.

I guess it’s because it solve pain points:

  • No recurring subscription (lifetime deal).

  • A real need (videos without captions get way less engagement).

  • A clear timing (everyone’s starting to make videos).

Now comes the next phase for him:

  • Build an audience of video creators.

  • Launch on Product Hunt & Uneed as a start for SEO next steps. Uneed launch is this week, support appreciated there ❤️

  • Gather feedback and improve to become the best Mac app for captions.

On my side, I just bought a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 😊

Looks like I’ll have no excuse left not to start my own video journey in 2025.
Oh, I do have an excuse actually. I need the microSD card delivery to record 😅
