English or native language content?

One of the question people ask me the most

Is it better to create content in English… or in a smaller niche language?

For a long time, I thought the answer was obvious:

English = bigger market.
More opportunities.
More potential customers.

I share all my journey on X and in my Newsletter in English, so when I decided to launch a YouTube channel, I naturally started in English.

But every time I recorded myself, I felt unnecessary pressure.

Searching for the right words, thinking about my accent.

And video isn’t like writing a tweet, it require more work.

A video is:
– your face
– your voice
– your energy

When you’re just starting, that’s hard enough.

So I made a simple decision: I will record in French. That way, it’s spontaneous and more natural.

That way I removed a barrier : the language.

I created a French Youtube channel, @pauline_clavelloux , and I’ll might post later English or dubbed video there.

And that changes everything, I won’t force myself to record in English and slowing everything down.

Entrepreneurship is hard, and being resilient is key. So don’t add yourself additional pressure if you’re not confident enough to be resilient.

Also, sharing content in a niche language might be a good idea for SEO and as differentiator.

If you’re building in public too, tell me: which language did you pick?
