Last week I did my PH launch...
Launch result explained
In my last email, I mentioned that I was about to launch NextJSDirectory on Product Hunt (PH) on Sunday.
Today, I’ll tell you how the launch went.
But first, I want to explain why I launched it and my purpose for doing so.
Estimated time to read: 2minutes and 15 seconds
To briefly explain for those who don’t know, I wanted to create something simple. Simple for my customers to create an online business to generate passive income while they sleep.
That’s how I came up with the idea to launch a NextJSDirectory, a boilerplate for quickly launching directories.
Now, let’s move on to the launch…
How did the PH launch Went?
To begin with, official launches are always scary.
You’ve done all the hard work, and that day you are running to promote the launch and answer questions to supportive persons.
So here’s how the launch went…
I got peak traffic, as you can see below, traffic was 4x the regular one.
But… I got only 1 conversion on the product hunt launch day. Which means people visited the website but weren’t ready to buy.
It got 96 upvotes, not much, I couldn’t hit the top 3 at the end of day but actually it doesn’t matter that much.
I know it would be better if I did hit the top 3 but my main goal was to get a top backlink because Product Hunt DR is very good:
Now, I got a good backlink, and the best part : it was free to get it.
High quality backlink are good for SEO, so if your strategy is SEO, you should definitely launch on PH.
2 weeks after, my DR increased by 4.
Product Hunt gives visibility, after the launch I was contacted by around 10 persons to become affiliate and promote NextJSDirectory.
Fun Fact
Amidst all the stress and everything that was happening, something really interesting happened to me.
The directory demo that I display within the NextJSDirectory landing page made me earn a $64.50 commission from Swiftaway affiliation because someone bought a product I displayed in the demo! This demo doesn’t even have a proper domain name. That’s how powerful directories can be :).
That’s it for today.
If you’re interested in making money from directories, I wrote a guide here.
What’s Next?
My aim with NextJSDirectory from here onwards is clear:
Accelerate my directories launch as it's part of my strategy to grow SaaS
Earn additional income for people with the same needs
Help people to start digital business
Because true success is when you help others achieve their goals too, I’m really happy when I see people joining the indie hackers’ club :)
