Reddit GEO is dying
And that’s probably a good thing
A few months ago, I built a small internal tool that monitors Reddit, finds discussions related to my SaaS, and spots opportunities where I could naturally mention my product.
The goal was simple: get discovered by humans, but also by LLMs like ChatGPT or Claude.
If my SaaS was mentioned in the right Reddit discussions, maybe AI would eventually recommend it.

My internal tool to monitor reddit posts
And I wasn’t alone. An entire category of startups started building tools around this GEO strategy.
Recently, things changed.
Before explaning, let me thank the sponsor of this newsletter: ScreenSnap Pro 📸

If you’re building SaaS, you probably take screenshots and screen recordings.
ScreenSnap Pro is a screenshot & screen recording app, with lifetime pricing.
Also, they’re giving you 30% off with the code pauline.
(Note: I don’t earn any money on sales if you do buy! But I’m happy he sponsors the newsletter because I did buy it, tried and definitely like it!)
Algos changed. Reddit is becoming much less relevant as a source for LLM recommendations, not to say useless.
So… part of my strategy just died 😅 . But deeply, I actually think that’s good news.
Reddit was becoming a giant forums for bots trying to quote SaaS.
Once people realized Reddit mentions could influence LLMs, everyone started inserting their products into discussions.
Founders. Marketers. Bots. AI-generated comments.
Sometimes I read threads and wonder how many comments were actually written by real users. Probably none of them 😅.
As it was total cheat, everyone could influence a SaaS without real notoriety. Once big AI players noticed the flaws, they stopped using Reddit posts as a source.
And I believe it’s a good thing:
For Redditors to talk between humans again.
For us, AI users to get real recommendation, not cheated ones
So what happens to GEO now?
I believe we’re going back to things that are much harder to fake:
Backlinks. Independent articles. YouTube videos. Authority…
Basically… SEO all over again. And that’s probably healthier.
I will probably continue to monitor Reddit especially to undertake users pain, and see where my competitors are mentioned.
My tool isn’t meant to be live but if you’re looking to monitor Reddit conversations around your product, tools like Bazzly and Redship can help you.
Better to use them to get leads, find customers, and learn from competition, not in the hope to be quoted by AI with reddit.
See you soon! 😊
