Uneed vs PH: I tried both

My analysis after 2 launch in a week

Hi everyone!

Last week, I launched my new project, Feedbask.

Last weeks were super busy so I didn’t have time to mention it here, it’s a tiny widget you can embed on any site to collect:
→ Bug reports
→ Feature requests
→ Testimonials
→ Feedback (custom survey, NPS…)

💬 All in one place (indie hacker friendly with a free plan 😊)

But I’ll share the full story behind Feedbask soon (including a cofounder issue and a pivot… stay tuned 👀)

The topic I want to share with you today is how the double launch went.

⚡️Uneed

🏆 Product of the day
🥈 2nd product of the week
👀 34 visits
🧑‍💻 5 sign-ups
💬 ~10% of visitors left a comment

The traffic wasn’t huge but the conversion was good.

And I enjoyed the experience. The community is warm, I felt like I was in competition with humans not bots.

Cool badge no? 😊

🟠 Product Hunt

🏅 10th product of the day
👀 11 visits
😷 I was sick that day and only managed to schedule one tweet… so yeah, low effort 😅

But being sick wasn’t the only reason why I did’t like the experience:

  • I got spammed with 20+ DMs on X and LinkedIn + cold email to sell me service to get upvotes and visibility hacks

  • The #1 product had over 600 upvotes… 🫠 Genuine or bots? I don’t know but it’s super hard to reach the top…

It’s hard to know what’s legit anymore when you see how fast people earn upvotes everyday and all these boost companies…

💡 Takeaways

→ I earned 2 great backlinks for SEO (win!)
→ If you want the notoriety badge, go for Uneed, it’s easier to rank well than on PH
→ Got super useful feedback to improve feedbask
→ PH became a money machine with spammy services 😔
→ Preferred Uneed experience. Plus it’s made by an indie hacker, Thomas 😊

Take care,

Pauline
